Mother Teresa. It was many years ago, when I first read this quote and the meaning of her words took up residence in my life.
Although powerful, this is very basic truth. For me, it means a commitment to “baby steps”. One day at a time, over time, is powerful beyond measure. It’s easy to overwhelm ourselves, I do it all the time! But when I choose (“operative” word: choose) to do one small thing each day, and carry it through, I begin to build my inner strength to do more. It seems to creates in me new power; I become more disciplined, and as the weeks unfold, I look back and I am a more fulfilled person; I feel “on top of the world.”
“Life is a journey, not a destination”
as Ralph Waldo Emerson stated. We’ve heard that many times, why? Well, probably because it makes sense. Slow down and enjoy the journey, one day at a time, we’ll all reach a destination; some of us will reach more than one, during a lifetime.
Perhaps you’d enjoy reading: COMPOUND EFFECT, by Darren Hardy, editor of “Success Magazine.” He writes about his own experience, and the power of committing to do one small thing, every day. He explains how this one little effort, repeated over time, will impact your life forever.
So, I suggest that we enjoy our journey, together, accomplishing small things, but in a great way. xoSharon
